Knox County Community Health Coalition
Penobscot Bay YMCA, Coalition Partner
Founded in 2000, Knox County Community Health Coalition (KCCHC)
(formerly known as Knox County Coalition Against Tobacco) is a Local Healthy
Maine Partnership and is the only public health coalition in the county. It is a
community/school partnership comprised of agencies, organizations, businesses,
and individuals representing many sectors of our county.
KCCHC Mission Statement: KCCHC seeks to create a healthy Knox County for all community
members. KCCHC staff and coalition partners endeavor to assist community members in achieving
physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. We provide population based health information,
education and opportunities that enable people to develop lifelong habits that are beneficial for themselves,
and the community through the reduction of tobacco and other substance use, increased physical activity
and the promotion of healthy eating.

KCCHC’s  Vision: The Knox County Community Health Coalition will identify, recommend and assist
efforts to enhance the overall quality of life and health of the Knox County community by promoting a
livable wage, reducing substance abuse, providing access to health care, creating opportunities for
individuals to empower themselves, and communicating effectively with each other on common
concerns. KCCHC envisions a community that:
•        Works together to make positive changes in community attitude and practices that will reduce
  high risk and illegal behavior
•        Shares ownership and responsibility for the well-being of all its citizens
•        Promotes strong families, strong kids and strong communities.
