Hip Hop

Students develop strength and form through stretching, isolation
exercises, and jazz dance technique work. They learn stylized hip
hop choreography and performance skills, which they can share with
friends and family in our annual recital in May. All levels welcome.
Creative Movement
Instructor: Ms. Andrea
Classes will combine basic dance skills with creative movement,
theatre games and props. Your child will explore music, visual art
forms and tumbling as it relates to dance. Session will highlight
shapes, levels, colors, motor skills, seasonal awareness and
self-esteem techniques to nurture each child's artist within.
Age groups 3/4 & 5/6
Creative Dance
Instructor: Ms. Andrea
Allow your child's creativity to be expressed with this fun and
energetic dance class. Creative dance will build technique, strength,
flexibility, coordination and musicality. Dancers will learn
sophisticated loco motor skills such as leaps in rhythmic progression.
Each class will end with short modern dance phrases performed to
various styles of music. Self expression and creativity will be
nurtured and encouraged for dancers at every level.
Age Group: 7 - 9
Children's Ballet
Instructor: Laurie Wolfrum
In this class kids will learn proper ballet placement and execution of
the basic steps in combinations that make ballet unique. Laurie
offers a blend of styles and approaches to ballet techniques that are
especially suited to young people seeking to have fun while learning
the fundamentals of classical dance. Boys are welcome.
Preferred attire: shorts/t-shirts or leotard/tights, cotton socks or
ballet slippers.

Music
Beginner Guitar
Instructor: Phil Clement
Learn the basics to get you started, including finding notes,
guitar tuning, chords and some basic songs. No prior
experience necessary, but you will need a working instrument
and a desire to learn. Practice not included!
Ages 12 & up
Guitar-Robics
(Advanced Program)
Instructor: Phil Clement
Put on your sweats and feel the burn ... of your fingers on the
guitar. This course is designed to transplant new ideas into your
playing in a dynamic (and fun) group setting. The perfect way
to get out of a "grind" and improve techniques, song form,
vamps, grooves, melodies, scales, chords and more. Caution:
your heart rate may elevate slightly during this class.
Traditionally know as places to learn how to do the breast stroke or make a jump shot, YMCAs are rapidly becoming the places where kids and adults learn hip hop, jazz dance or how to play the guitar. The year 2006 marks the eighth anniversary of arts and humanities as a YMCA core program.
